Hi all, just acquired a "like new" pre-safety Marlin 1894 in .357 mag. 3)I may hunt whitetail deer with this rifle at ranges most likely not to exceed 80 yds. I wouldn't shoot any FMJ round thru it, because of the remote chance of magazine detonation, flat pointed or hollow point rounds are best. Recently I acquired the same rifle as yours circa 1980 with no safety. I was told that it had about 30 rounds fired through it and you would think it hadn't had one.
